A sucky blogging 2017

We are kicking it back to 2005! I spent a lot of time and energy over the last decade, writing at Rethinking Markets. And I'm super proud of that body of work. I'm not intending to write the same kinds of things here, however. In the past three years, I have become much less interested about the state of academia in general, and of academic sociology in particular. It turns out that taking the sociologist out of the academy does indeed take the academy out of the sociologist.

On the other hand, you can expect more discussion about the intersections of social science, technology, and culture here. There is a bit of necessary self-censorship, in the sense that I am very attentive to work that belongs to my employer rather than to me. Nevertheless, I want this to be a forum for talking through some of the possibilities and pitfalls of strategy / user experience / research on technology in the sociological mode.

I'm excited to get started!
